Bear claws and rabid joy

It's funny where you'll find joy. A group of women on Facebook today expressed their joy and their love of children with Down Syndrome and other special needs.

Why is that such a big deal?

Well, it's because they found themselves having to fend off an irrational and asinine comment by a troll named, "Francois". In the comments of Leticia Velasquez's post about Dr. Jerome Lejeune, who discovered Trisomy 21, he decided to opine about how fortunate we are that the Down Syndrome population is reduced by abortion, and how chromosomal racism is a "good thing" .

That's all it took to unleash the JOY! You see, it's not venom that comes from mothers of children with special needs when someone attacks (one of the comments did cause me to chuckle, however, in requesting that he, and others as ignorant as he, be eliminated and leave the loving children with Down Syndrome alone). It's an intensity of LOVE. Be careful when you make stupid remarks -- it's a hair trigger, and you're about to get a dose of bear claws and rabid joy!

Bear claws and rabid joy; yes, that's what you'll encounter when you try to tell a mom of a child with special needs that they would be happier if their child was dead!

More power to us ladies! We need strong, intense and joyful voices of mothers who love ALL of their children, with and without disabilities.

Let's end chromosomal racism NOW!
