Feast of the Immaculate Conception

Today marks a Holy Day of Obligation in the Catholic Church,  the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Mary, most holy, was conceived in the womb of her mother Elizabeth, free of the stain of original sin. She was chosen by the Father to be the mother of His Son -- the Son being one in substance with the Father & the Spirit. Thus, Mary, is the Theotokos -- the Mother of God. What an amazing mystery in the Divine plan for our salvation, the dogma of the Immaculate Conception.

And, to think that God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, through this humble and simple virgin preserved and pure, through her own free choice to remain always within the will of God. He gave His only Son, Who in turn gave His only Mother to be our Blessed Mother. We are children of God, by adoption, and loved without reserved by both God and His Holy Mother, Mary.

If the world could only see the great gift we have been given in The Mother of God, if it could only surrender and embrace the tender heart of their Mother with abandon, we would know a sense of human kindness that is impossible of our own accord. The grace that flows from God through His Mother to all of us is there for the accepting, if we will only return the love that is given freely from God and from Our Blessed Mother.
