Puppy Defies Euthanasia

Who doesn't love a good puppy story? Those little smiling eyes, the tongues that lick incessantly and the wagging tails that show just how much you are loved and appreciated -- dogs certainly have a way of expressing their affection and loyalty that softens even the most stoic among us.

Wall-E, a three month old Oklahoma pup that was too ill to remain in an over crowded shelter, was euthanized with four other young puppies on Saturday, 27 February 2011. He was confirmed dead and placed in a trash can with the other pups according to New York Daily News reporter, Michael Sheridan. On Sunday morning, the pup was found to be miraculously alive and in good health still in the trash can with his less fortunate pals.

This puppy must have a special purpose to have survived the euthanizing drugs that render the animal first unconscious and then slows and ends both respiratory and cardiac function. I can only imagine what the Lord may have in store for this sweet little creature, but to rise from the effects of these drugs is certainly unusual and remarkable.

This is the kind of story that brings hope to a sagging society that no longer believes in the supernatural and the goodness of the One True God who loves them. God works in many wonderful and mysterious ways. There is no coincidence here, the dog should be dead just like all the others, but he is not. There is hope in this little pup, if you choose to have eyes to see and ears to hear.

We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. (Rom 8:28)
